Orienting: Constellations of Community Practice and Queer Identity in the Asian American Diaspora
Yellow Jackets Collective

Please join Yellow Jackets Collective in a discussion of queer Asian American identity and community practice. Here we will use archival tools and histories of both Asian American resistance and complacence to try to envision a future and community practice that is both nurturing and accountable.
-
How do we envision ourselves at the crossroads of identity: Of color? Queer? Femme? Asian? American?
-
How do we tell stories of our history when they are broken by migration and intergenerational trauma?
-
How do we see ourselves and our communities when the framework of "self" is embedded in histories of oppression and our communities have been used as weapons of the state?
We invite participants to bring their stories, and family histories, as well as personal ephemera to create a more wholesome conversation.
