Jaslin Kaur

A lifelong resident of Glen Oaks and graduate of CUNY Hunter College, Jaslin Kaur is running to represent District 23 in the New York City Council. Jaslin's nonprofit work to support immigrant elected officials across the country has helped usher in a new generation of first-time candidates. For years, Jaslin has also been a committed and leading organizer and advocate on behalf of survivors of sexual violence in our schools. Jaslin’s parents, Sikh Punjabi immigrants who move and carry New York City, are essential workers -- Jaslin’s mother works as a grocery store worker, and her father is a yellow taxicab worker who was deeply impacted by the 2014 medallion crash. If elected, Jaslin would be the first woman and person of color to ever represent District 23.
